Disclosure

The following disclosure is intended to fulfill the requirements of the California Senate Bill #SB577, passed in September 2002, affecting all non-licensed helping professionals offering alternative health care.

1. A Reiki practitioner, energy therapist, EFT practitioner and/or facilitator is not a licensed physician. He/she is not qualified to diagnose, treat or prescribe for physical or mental conditions.

2. The use of Reiki, Energy therapies, EFT and facilitation is alternative and complimentary to healing arts services licensed by the State of California.

3. The services offered are not licensed by the State of California but the practitioner is certified by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Continuing Education Provider #PCE 3506, a licensed California Private Postsecondary instructor, a certified Reiki Master/Teacher, Energy Therapist, Homeobotanical Therapist and certified in advanced EFT and Educational Kinesiology with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science and a minor in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo.

4. The services offered include Reiki, Energy Therapy, EFT, coaching and facilitation for the purpose of pain management, goal setting, performance enhancement, self-healing, regressing therapy, spiritual emergence issues, trauma, relationship issues, learning enhancement, stress management, career issues, exploring life purpose, life transitions, personal growth and discovery. The practitioner has been facilitating personal development and transformation through these modalities since 1995. None of these services is intended to be a substitute for medical or psychological care. Any issue beyond the scope of the practitioner will be referred to a licensed practitioner.

5. It is the goal of the practitioner to provide clients with a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment where clients can gain insights into established patterns of behaviors and work towards transformation and personal growth. Because all of the services and modalities are based on the empowerment model, all clients do their own work and healing with the guidance of a co-creative facilitator.

On September 23, 2002, Senate Bill 577 was signed into law by State of California Governor Grey Davis. As he said when he signed the bill, SB 577 "will ease access to alternative and complementary health care options for all Californians." He also stated that "the bill provides adequate safeguards for California consumers and enables them to make an informed choice regarding their personal health care."

The bill states that California residents now can have access to "complementary and alternative health care practitioners who are not providing services that require medical training and credentials." In addition, the California legislature found that these "complementary and alternative services do not pose a known risk to the health and safety of residents." The bill was signed on September 24, 2002 by California governor Gray Davis and took effect January 2003. You can view the bill at the California State Legislative website.
